CaelenColquhoun.org was created to help Caelen, a new addition to Clan Colquhoun on January 11, 2014, grow up with an awareness of his ancestry. Caelen's Dad is Clan Colquhoun and Caelen's Mom is Clan Johnstone: Through this website we want to give Caelen an opportunity to learn the histories of both clans, and give clan and family members the opportunity to know of Caelen.
Clan Colquhoun Crest and Tartan
We are unconcerned about foreign evolutions of the Colquhoun and Johnstone names, or American and other bastardized misspellings. If your roots are Clan Colquhoun, but you are now a Calhoun or Callaghan, or even if you are a Kahun or Gahn from Sweden, you are still Clan Colquhoun as far as we are concerned. Likewise if you are a Johnston or Johnson, we still consider you Clan Johnstone. We consider ill feelings from the Colquhoun/MacGregor/Glen Fruin nastiness mostly settled, now that four centuries have passed, so even if you are branched from that illicit bunch who took the Johnston name while the MacGregors were proscribed, we invite your participation in this website. We do not plan to invite you to family functions, however, as it has only been 400 years. When he is old enough to make such decisions, you may appeal to Caelen for an exception.
If you would like to say hello, or leave any other comments, please post to Caelen's Blog. Caelen's Dad and Caelen's Mom are covering the blog until Caelen is ready to take over - let's give him a couple of years.
Caelen and his family split their time between Virginia and North Carolina, but are planning a move to California - so we are hoping to meet people across the country. We also hope to take Caelen to the Clan's ancestral home on Loch Lomond when he is old enough to appreciate such a trip, so we are of course interested in getting to know people there. Thank you for your interest!
