BC: Before Caelen - The ClanS in America
Long before Caelen, or Caelen's parents for that matter, members of Clan Colquhoun and Clan Johnstone were in America. On the Colquhoun side, Caelen's great-great grandfather left Scotland in the early 1800s and settled his family in western New York State. Caelen's great grandfather made several trips across the U.S. on horseback and by horse and wagon, and partook of the California Gold Rush and Nevada Silver Rush before returning to New York. Starting what has apparently become a family tradition, he fathered several children with a much younger wife, the last when he was around age 60. And this was in the late 1800s, when 60 was very old. Actually, back then, age 60 usually meant very dead, so if he could handle it then, what choice did Caelen's Dad have but to try it now?
You may, or may not, know such details about your branch of either Clan Colquhoun or Johnstone. If you do, and would like to share some information or send a profile, please post it to Caelen's Blog and we will copy it to this section. If you don't know much about Clan Colquhoun except for its ancestral history in the Loch Lomond region of Scotland, or much about Clan Johnstone other than it was based in Annandale in Dumfrieshire, this may be a good place to learn more.
